Dorian

Jazz piano teacher in Bristol

About me
Bristol native Dorian studied jazz piano at Birmingham Conservatoire (BMus) and Leeds College of Music (BTEC) under such luminary pianists as John Taylor, Matthew Bourne and Liam Noble. He returned to Bristol as an in-demand jazz pianist with a passion and knowledge in a wide array of genres, something that he has gone on to spread to his students.

With over 10 years’ teaching experience, Dorian is at home working with students of all ages and ability. His personable approach keeps his jazz piano lessons fun and relaxed, whilst working towards pupils’ goals, whether that be grades, developing a specific area, or purely for enjoyment.

When not teaching or performing, Dorian is an avid composer, having written and arranged jazz music for many of the acts he performs with. You can see him perform jazz piano locally with a diverse range of acts including Solomon O.B, Ruth Royall, Antelope, Camo Clave, Soulsters and his latest project Zoobers.

Some of his career highlights include performing with Iain Ballamy, Steve Lyman, Ian Matthews and Gary Alesbrook, and performing at venues such as Pizza Express Dean Street, The Jazz Cafe, Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival and a multitude of festivals across the UK.

Testimonials
“Dorian is wonderful chap. he paid great attention to the details and we look forward to working together. A fantastic piano player and jazz piano teacher but equally at home teaching classical as he would be teaching stride, blues, boogie or bebop from his snazzy piano studio.” - Kevin Matthews, Director of Music, PLUK
