Alice Rowe

Piano teacher in Kemptown

About me
I am a full-time piano tutor with many years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. I studied music at Chichester University where I earned a BA Honours. Their department was very musically diverse with a friendly and nurturing environment, which is reflected in my teaching. I treat my students like equals as I believe that music is best enjoyed through collaboration.

In my free time, I play with and write music for my ten-piece funk and soul band the Beta Rays. We’ve gigged at various festivals supporting well-known acts such as Craig Charles. I also arrange modern songs for a Cornwall based choir.

Although I can teach any style and genre, I specialise in Jazz, Funk, Soul, Film, Pop and composition. I am highly experienced at offering the ABRSM (Classical and Jazz) and Rockschool syllabi. We can use the PLUK piano courses or choose the lesson content based upon suggestions made by you. My passion for composing means that I also enjoy weaving theory into my lessons to offer an insight in how to recreate the music that my students’ love. Whatever music we choose to learn, my goal is to keep my students’ passion for music going.

“Wonderful, inspiring tutor for my 13 year old daughter. My daughter has made
amazing progress in a short space of time, and, best of all, she really enjoys the lessons. Alice has a fluid, easy-going approach which my daughter responds well to.” Katerina, parent
