About me
About me I have been fully dedicated to music for the last 27 years, exploring the areas of piano teaching and performance, musical education at under and postgraduate levels, composition, music for film, music production and musical research. I started studying piano as a child and at an early age I realised my determined vocation towards music. Pursuing my passion, I studied Musical Theory at University of Chile and later, at University of Bristol, I did an MA in Composition for Film, another MA in Contemporary Music Composition and a PhD in Music Composition (doctoral degree awarded in 2017). As a pianist I have performed as a soloist programs of classical pieces along with my own compositions. I have also played with chamber ensembles and for 5 years I joined a Chilean jazz-rock band obtaining several awards and recognitions (such as ‘the best band of the year’ 2004). I am a relaxed and patient person and an enthusiastic and chilled piano tutor with lot of experience teaching all ages. I emphasise the ability to be an independent student so that you will learn how to solve technical and musical challenges by yourself and aim your skills for the music you most want to play. In addition, I am very keen to help you explore your musical creativity and to cover subjects such as harmony, counterpoint and composition, along with the piano tuition. I will be happy to share my passion and experience in the world of music with you, helping you to build the skills you need to make the music you want.
